Welcome to Hammock Hangout 2009: we will Sing, Snack, & SpaceCat your face off.

Here's the gist of what's up. This website lists a)  who's doing what, b) stuff we thought of, whilst inspired out in the desert last year, for Burning Man 2009, c) what to bring/what we wished we had more of last year/what we already have in the desert (ie: don't bring), & at the end of the page, losely defined set-up sched/strategy. Here goes:

who else? have them email KP2 and i'll get them on the list.

2009 PROJECTS & "DEPARTMENT HEADS":

-JILL is the GreH20 captain of BM 2009.  She volunteered to create a system that, when followed, will make our nasty water less nasty.

-BETTY BURNS is the lead on signage/decor that labels the camp, our artistic director.  we are officially the hammock hangout in the directory, but are getting space-cattier this year with the visuals.  she will need help, most likely, because we brainstormed a ton of stuff last year...

-PAUL is in charge of hammock hangout engineering & karaoke system.

-MELISSA is the tiny hat master.

-KP2 is cubbie master:cubbie system for organizing our stuff (so each camp member has designated place to stash their moop). ideas/suggestions welcome.

-Cubbies for each camp member with pull-down shades/tarp for dust

-anyone have access to a bunch of extra milk crates?

-THE ROARAX ROUNGE our immediate next-door neighbors have a karaoke art car, the "Roar Shack", that will facilitate mobile karaoke. we hope to have a karaoke off.

PROJECTS WE SAID WE WANTED TO DO THIS YEAR (when we were out in the desert in 2008):

if you feel inspired to LEAD or WORK ON one of these projects, please tell me/make a note of it on the wiki! this is only if we want to make the stuff we brainstormed last year  a reality.

-KITCHEN ORGANIZATION CZAR (KP2?): i've been doing kitchen set-up/load-in the last few years, and am open to improvement suggestions. maybe cubbies will help?

-Unload stuff out of tubs & put on shelves in kitchen (if you have shelves or shelf-making experience, hit me!)

-Magnet station on the wall for each camper: plate, cup, silverware, bowl magneted to container wall

-Dedicated ice cooler system (i.e. one high quality cooler ONLY FOR ICE that no one goes into for any other reason - reduce ice runs)

-LIGHTING DESIGNER (?): for evening light inside the hammock hangout/kitchen:

-Better lighting in shade areas & kitchen

-Lighting strategy for bar/rope lights for ground

-Lighting strategy for inside hammock hangout

-KARAOKE AREA DESIGNER (?):

-Well-defined Karaoke station set-up/area & Design concept for karaoke bar (red carpet theme, tiki theme, celebrity theme - etc). stage?

-the roarax rounge has a red-carpet faux club set-up we can wrangle (i think it lives in oakland).

-Cool signage for bar

-Flashing light or strobe/APPLAUSE SIGN that lights up/strobes, for stellar karaoke performances... that we can set off whenever we applaud people

-BETTER WIND SHEILD TO KEEP THE DUST DOWN IN LOUNGE AREA, MANAGER (?):  if we want to lounge in the shade & a dust storm comes along...

-WELL-LABELED TRASH SYSTEMIZER (?): we separated burnables/recycling/garbage last year, but will benefit w/ a labeling/management system.

-LAMINATE DIRECTOR- the person who makes fake VIP burning man staff laminantes. or just a Laminating machine for "Permits. also, 3-min seminars, like at sxsw...
